Indonesian director brings banned film to be screened at Australian Gallery

Renowned Indonesian film director, Garin Nugroho, visits National Gallery of Australia for an exhibition and speaks to SBS Indonesian on his involvement in it.


Renowned Indonesian filmmaker, Garin Nugroho, visits National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and brings with him six Indonesian films screened for Indonesian film festival. The festival was run from 11 to 14 July and is part of the Gallery's .  

His most recent work Memories of My Body (Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku), which got banned from several cities in Indonesia, is the highlight of the festival.

Garin speaks to SBS Indonesian about the movie, the films he curated for and his involvement in the exhibition, as well as Indonesian arts and politics.
