Nareewate Chaiyalerd, a volunteer of South Coast Community Support Group in NSW, says that goods and supplies donated by the public without considering the needs of people in affected communities can create burdens to them. Therefore she suggests that anyone who would like to donate goods and supplies to bushfire-ravaged communities should consult with local community groups to assess the community needs, and should source the supplies from local businesses in or near the bushfire-hit areas in order to revive local economy at the same time.
