Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' becomes the longest-running no.1 in history

The single has now spent 17 weeks at the top of the 'Billboard' Hot 100.

Lil Nas X has made music history, with his single 'Old Town Road' featuring Billy Rae Cyrus becoming the longest-running number 1 on the 'Billboard' Hot 100 charts.

Holding the top spot for a remarkable 17 weeks, the country-rap track beat out Mariah Carey and Boys II Men’s 90s collaboration 'One Sweet Day', which previously held the record with 16 weeks at number 1.

Taking to social media, Lil Nas X celebrated the news by tweeting: "YEEE TF HAWWW".

Previously speaking to , the young singer/rapper said that he would be gracious in his success.

“I may buy Mariah Carey some roses and send them to her, ’cause I love her," he revealed. 

A true gentleman!
It's been a huge year for Lil Nas X.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast , the 20-year-old star reflected on the he shared in June, saying: “I kind of revealed, you know… that I am gay."

He went on to admit that he once considered never coming out out, saying: “It was something I was considering just never doing ever, just taking to the grave or something, but I don’t want to live my entire life not doing what I want to do."

He added: “I’m also opening doors for more people. [I hope] that they feel more comfortable.”
