Social media users have discovered that Lucy Liu paints erotic lesbian art

So, it would seem that actress Lucy Liu is the wearer of many hats.

Not only is she an actress, a director, , and a UNICEF ambassador - she's an incredibly talented painter with a penchant for lesbian erotica.

That last detail isn't common knowledge - partly because Liu paints under her Chinese name, which is Yu Ling.

Needless to say, when queer social media users stumbled upon the news this week, Liu's large-scale oil paintings were promptly filed under 'things we didn't know we needed'.

While Liu's erotic expressionist paintings may come as a revelation to many of us, she's been exhibiting her work for decades.

, the multi-talented artist has been showing her paintings as part of both public and private exhibitions since 1993 - creating ink drawings, paintings, silkscreens, and collages from .

“When that happens, it’s such an inspiration, and it’s such a significant moment,” she .

“It spurs you to be somebody different or more than you are already. [It] spurs you to do something different.”

Just this year, Liu's 'Lost and Found' collection of sculptures - made up of repurposed goods she had found, we love a sustainable queen! - was exhibited at the National Museum of Singapore.
